International Graphite has been awarded another $4.0 million from the Western Australian Government towards commercialisation and integration activities for the Springdale─Collie mine to market battery graphite supply strategy.
The grant, announced by WA Premier Roger Cook, will be used for bulk extraction of ore from Springdale, for downstream process design and customer offtake assessment, and installation of Australia’s first graphite spheroidiser at the Collie Graphite Processing and R&D Facility.
Funding has been allocated from the Investment Attraction Fund New Energies Industries Funding Stream administered by the WA Department of Jobs, Tourism, Science and Innovation. It brings total Australian State and Federal Government support to date to $17.2 million with $12.2 million remaining to be drawn.
Managing Director and CEO Andrew Worland said, “This grant acknowledges the critical importance of building a reliable, sovereign supply of battery graphite materials as quickly as possible and the opportunities this opens for WA to attract trade and investment from international markets.”
